The Terrace RCMP have recently provided bike patrol training to several of its members who are now already patrolling the streets of Terrace.
An application was made to the Special Investigation and Targeted Enforcement (SITE) for additional funding to be used for overtime specifically for foot and bicycle patrols from May through September 2024. These enhanced patrols will target high crime areas throughout terrace and are in addition to the existing general duty patrols that are made. The funding also included the purchase of four new patrol bicycles.
SITE is a three-year provincial pilot project providing funds to police agencies to address repeat violent offending in target hotspot areas.
Terrace RCMP plan to train additional members for bike patrol.
The public can expect to see an increased police presence conducting proactive enforcement this season.
