This week is National Volunteer Week and we want to thank all of our volunteers.

The Community Policing Volunteers work with the Port Alberni RCMP, under the direction of the Community Policing Manager.

Throughout the year, they regularly assist with the delivery of crime prevention initiatives within our community. Initiatives and activities may include speed monitoring, distracted driving surveys, auto crime prevention, Crime Watch Patrol, the 529 Garage bike registration stations, as well as various community events.

These volunteers have been an invaluable asset to our detachment and to the community, stated Acting Officer In-charge Mike Thompson. It is a pleasure to see their efforts paying off in keeping our community safe.

If you have interest in becoming a Community Policing Volunteer, you can contact the Manager of Community Policing, Dave Cusson at the Public Safety Office, located at 3075 3rd Avenue.
