Causing a disturbance:

The Kitimat RCMP received a call of a disturbance being caused on the 800 block of Tsimshian BLVD during the early morning hours of June 17th, 2023. Kitimat RCMP officers attended and located an intoxicated person who was unruly and attempting to fight people. The subject was arrested for causing a disturbance by being drunk in public and lodged in the Kitimat RCMP cells, being released without charge, once sober. (2023-2167)

Robbery:

On June 17th, 2023, at approximately 11:00 pm, the Kitimat RCMP received a report of a robbery on the 300 block of City Centre in Kitimat BC. The Kitimat RCMP officers arrived and found injured parties that reported they had personal items stolen after they were assaulted. The officers then responded to another disturbance very shortly after the initial file and two males were arrested for the robbery. Both males were lodged into the Kitimat RCMP cells, and later released with a court date to answer to the robbery charge. (2023-2181)

Impaired driver:

While conducting a check stop during the evening of June 17th, 2023, a driver was checked for sobriety. A sample of breath was provided into a roadside screening device, determining that the driver had consumed alcohol before driving. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2023-2182)

Found property:

A pair of skis were located and turned into the Kitimat RCMP detachment on June 20th, 2022. There were no identifying marks or a way to locate the owners. If you are missing a pair of skis and can identify the ones turned in, please contact the Kitimat RCMP detachment at 250-632-7111 and cite file number 2023-2213.

Empty tent in the wind:

A concerned citizen contacted the Kitimat RCMP on June 21st, 2023 after seeing a tent set up along Albatross Avenue in Kitimat BC. The concern was the tent was set up near the road edge and injury could occur if it was hit by a vehicle passing by. A Kitimat RCMP officer attended and noted it was a child play tent that was empty and likely blew away in the wind. The tent was moved away from the road. (2023-2219)

Bike rodeo season:

Officers from the Kitimat RCMP detachment attended two schools this past week to assist with bike rodeos and had discussions with the students about bike safety as they prepare for summer break. The students at Nechako school showed great biking skills and amazingly decorated helmets on Monday June 19th. During the bike rodeo at St Anthony’s School on June 21st, the Kitimat RCMP were pleased to be joined by the Northern Brain Injury Association to assist with ensuring the students bike helmets were fitting correctly and educating the students on the importance of wearing helmets.
