Internet Safety Presentation:
On May 12th Constable Ross attended to Riverlodge for the Grade 6 Conference and presented on the topic of Internet Safety. The presentations were throughout the day to small syndicates and involved participation from the students.
Impaired:
On May 13th an officer conducted a vehicle stop on Tsimshian Blvd after observing a vehicle failing to signal. The driver displayed symptomology of impairment. An approved screening device demand was read and the driver blew a fail.
A second test on a second roadside screening device also registered a fail.
The driver was issued an immediate 90-day driving prohibition and the drivers vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
By-law noise:
On May 14th the Kitimat RCMP received a by-law noise complaint regarding loud music coming from a residence. An officer attended and spoke to the subject of complaint who was advised of the District of Kitimat by-law and turned down the music.
Check well-being:
On May 15th the Kitimat RCMP received a check well-being complaint. The complainant wanted police to ensure the well-being of a family member. An officer attended the residence of the subject of complaint and ensured that everything was okay. The complainant was provided with an update.
Missing Person:
On May 16th the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of a missing child. An officer contacted the complainant and it was soon discovered that the missing child had attended a friend’s house after school without telling their parent. The child was spoken to by police at the parent’s request.
Breach of Release Order:
On May 17th the Kitimat RCMP responded to a complaint of a breach of release order complaint. Kitimat RCMP officers attended to the area and subsequently arrested the suspect. The suspect was held in custody and attended a virtual bail hearing. At the virtual bail hearing the suspect was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
