Damage to Canada Post Mailboxes

On January 12, 2023, 3:00 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District officer received a report that an unknown suspect made unsuccessful attempts to break into Canada Post mailboxes in the Fruitvale area, BC. Canada Post mailboxes have been a recent target for thieves in the West Kootenay.

If you have any information about the identity of the suspects or witnessed the incidents, please call the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator.

Consensual Fight

On January 14, 2023 at 4:13 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers responded to a hang up 9-1-1 emergency call at a residence located in the 600 block of Shakespeare Street, in Warfield, BC. Officers arrived and discovered that two roommates, a 33-year-old man and a 40-year-old man, had allegedly gotten into a consensual fight. The 33-year-old man had a minor injury to his right eye. The fight allegedly broke out after an argument between the two men about sleeping habits.

The men claimed that the assault had involved a chainsaw and hammer; however, a third person in the house informed police that the altercation was a minor physical scuffle. The 33-year-old Trail man received treatment for the injury to his eye.

Trail RCMP will not be pursuing any criminal charges stemming from the incident.

Suspicious Fire

On January 16, 2023, at 4:24 p.m. frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officers and Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue responded to a suspicious fire which started inside a small camping trailer parked in the 1100 block of Second Avenue, in Trail, BC. No one was believed to be injured.

The cause of the fire is believed to be suspicious at this time.

Trail and Greater District RCMP is requesting assistance from the public in identifying the man and woman living inside the trailer at the time of the incident. If you have any information, please call the Trail Detachment at 250-364-2566 to speak to an investigator.
