File # Oceanside RCMP

This week, Oceanside RCMP support staff, victim services, restorative justice, volunteers and officers have been out and about in the community celebrating and spreading holiday cheer.

Once again, hampers full of toys, clothing, food and gift cards were collected for ten single parent families and will be delivered by Oceanside RCMP on December 22. Since 2016, a caring local family has anonymously donated money, purchased items and decorated these hampers for families in need in the Oceanside area. Local businesses, Restorative Justice, Police Based Victim Services, Sources Oceanside Resource Centre and fundraising barbecues sponsored by Save-On-Foods also contributed to the hampers.

Also, after a two year break due to the pandemic, the Oceanside RCMP carolers were welcomed at seven retirement communities and care homes in Parksville and Qualicum Beach to visit and sing Christmas songs for the residents.

Delivering hampers and singing Christmas carols for residents has always been a holiday highlight for staff and volunteers at Oceanside RCMP, says Sergeant Shane Worth of the Oceanside RCMP. All of us at the Detachment wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season.
