Breach of peace

On December 8 at 11pm, a woman reported a man causing a disturbance in her home. Lillooet RCMP and Stl’atl’imx Tribal police attended and located a noticeably intoxicated man that was slurring his words and hard of standing. The man threatened police saying he should throw both officers through the window. The woman wanted the man removed from the house. After exiting the house, the man was arrested for being drunk in public and transported to Lillooet cells to safely sober up as he had no where else to go.

Collision

On December 9, a man reported that his vehicle struck a bridge near the Goldbridge campground. The truck sustained damage in excess of $10 000, while the bridge was reportedly undamaged. The matter was referred to ICBC.

Intoxicated in public

On December 10 at 9pm, a man reported that his neighbour allegedly had intruders in her house. Police attended and spoke with the woman who reported that her son was taking food from her outside fridge, and was intoxicated. The woman just wanted her son gone because he was not welcome at the residence while intoxicated. While speaking with the woman, the son called out Hey! I’m here to police, and was located a short distance away. The man had slurred speech, and was carrying a bag of food and boots. The man was arrested for being intoxicated in public, and transported to Lillooet cells to sober up.

Cause disturbance

On December 10 at 11pm staff at Lillooet hospital reported a client was intoxicated, refusing to cooperate, and was swearing and screaming at staff. Lillooet RCMP attended and spoke with the man who had calmed down. The man was requested to be respectful of staff and other clients in the hospital. Police politely offered the man a place to sober up in Lillooet detachment cells. The man stated there would not be any further issues. No further issues reported.

Stolen property recovered

On December 11, a man reported he had found a newer model dirt bike hidden in a bush, just outside of Lillooet. Using the vehicle identification number (VIN), police confirmed the dirtbike was previously reported stolen. The bike was recovered undamaged and with the key still in ignition. The owner was notified of the recovery.

Suspected theft

On December 11, a woman reported that she suspected her ex-boyfriend had stolen oil from her vehicle. Police attended and found there was no oil in the snow, and the oil drain plug was found secure. The vehicle was running normally. There was no evidence to suggest anyone had removed oil from her vehicle.

Fraud

On December 12, a woman reported that her daughter was likely being scammed. The daughter had applied for a job thought her student email address and was hired at $450/week. The student was to receive payment from her employer in the form of a $1450 cheque that was deposited into her bank account via photo. The daughter’s boss then requested she purchase pre-paid Visa cards with the extra $1000 she was sent and send the boss photographs. The daughter soon realized the funds on pre-paid Visa cards were being drained. She was directed to contact her bank, university, and the anti-fraud centre. The file remains under further investigation.

Theft of vehicle

On December 12, a man reported his 2004 Sunbird was stolen from out front of his apartment near Murray St, Lillooet. The owner had his vehicle keys, and no one else had access to his vehicle. Police searched for the vehicle but were unable to locate it. On December 14, Kamloops RCMP located the vehicle, which attempted to evade police. Occupants fled the vehicle after it crashed, and Kamloops RCMP arrested two individuals with the help of a police dog unit.
