File # 2022-22124

Frontline officers from the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to three separate motor vehicle collisions on the morning of December 14, 2022. The overnight snow fall caused slippery sections on Hwy 6 and Hwy 97 which played a factor in the incidents.

At 6:13 am, police responded to a serious collision on Hwy 6 east of Aberdeen Road in Coldstream. A westbound vehicle crossed over the center line and was struck by a eastbound 5 ton truck. The driver of the westbound vehicle sustained serious life threatening injuries and was rushed to hospital. The driver of the truck was uninjured. Hwy 6 was closed for a period of time while police investigated the cause of the incident; however, road conditions were a factor.

At 6:24 am, police responded to a single vehicle collision on Hwy 97 at Stickle Road. The vehicle was southbound and struck road debris causing the drive to collide with the guard rail. The driver was uninjured.

At 7:25 am, police investigated a single vehicle collision on Hwy 97 near Crystal Waters Road where the driver lost control on a slippery section and left the roadway. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police remind driver to slow down and use extra caution in wintery driving conditions.
