2022-7140- Break, enter, and theft
On November 13, 2022, police investigated a report of a break, enter, and theft into a garage in the 39700 block of Government Rd. that happened sometime over the Remembrance Day long weekend. Unknown thieves stole three bikes with a value of about $9,000. This theft may be targeted given no other items were reported stolen from the garage, and police continue following up on this matter.
2022-7133 – Excessive speed
On November 13, 2022, a BC Highway Patrol – Squamish member was doing speed enforcement on Highway 99 and saw a pickup truck traveling at 144 km/h in a posted 90 km/h zone. The member issued the driver a violation ticket for excessive speed and impounded their truck for 7 days under the Motor Vehicle Act.
2022-7079 – Collision between car and bike
On November 10, 2022, just after 8:00 a.m., a cyclist traveling the wrong way on a one-way street collided with a vehicle that was turning east in the 39200 block of Discovery Way. The cyclist received minor injuries, was taken to the local hospital by BC Ambulance Service, and their bike’s front tire damaged. The car driver did not receive any injuries; however, their car’s fender was damaged.
2022-7032 – Fraud
Police started a fraud investigation on November 8, 2022, after receiving a report of an employee at a local business mis-scanning items for their friends and allowing friends to leave the store with unpaid merchandise. The total value associated with the fraud is $4,200.
