2022-6901/2022-6900/2022-6899 – Halloween related calls
On night shift October 31, 2022, police received three calls for service that were Halloween related. In each report, a large group of teenage youth were lighting off fireworks at buildings, at each other, and in other public places along Pia Rd., Cottonwood Park, and at a local elementary school. When police attended the calls, youth ran away. Otherwise, all trick or treaters were well behaved and appear to have had fun, say police.
2022-6849 – Mischief
On October 28, 2022, police received a report of mischief from a local business in the 1200 block Commercial Way. For about the last two or three months, three to four youth have been going into the businesses’ washroom to vape and light off fireworks. Police are following up with the business so they can identify the youth to speak with them and their parents.
2022-6818 – Impaired
On October 27, 2022, at about 2:50 a.m., members did a traffic stop with a driver who had drug paraphernalia on her lap. Members had the driver do a standard field sobriety test, a test that members have specialized training for, and the driver failed the test. Members issued the driver a 24-hour driving prohibition, some other violation tickets under the Motor Vehicle Act, and towed the driver’s car.
2022-6790- Mischief
Sometime between October 24, 2022, after 9:30 p.m. and 6:30 a.m. the next morning, unknown persons threw a rock through a window in the 1300 block Winnipeg St. The suspect did not gain access to the building, and nothing was stolen. Video surveillance captured the suspect who wore a red hoodie and rode a bike.
