Purple Light Nights during the month of October aims to bring awareness to the public about domestic violence, the signs that yourself or someone you love might be in danger, and how to help.
Regardless of social, educational, or financial status, domestic violence can affect anyone
, says Corporal Carmen Kiener of the Chilliwack RCMP Detachment.
Some of the signs to watch out for are:
- Individual is isolated from their friends and family
- Person’s money is being controlled by their partner
- Extreme jealousy by partner
- Verbal Abuse and threats of violence
- Physical abuse
- Harassment of the person
- Accusations of the partner flirting or having an affair with others
- Vandalism of individual’s property
Learn how to recognize warning signs and how to seek help if you or someone you know are experiencing intimate partner violence.
RCMP remind everyone who witnesses anything they believe to be domestic violence to contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or your local police agency.
