Police warn community about suspicious male

Squamish RCMP want to warn the public after receiving two reports since October 15, 2022, of suspicious circumstances involving an unidentified male following young females.

In the first instance on October 15, 2022, at about 9:00 p.m., in the 1800 block of Willow Crescent, a teenage female was walking alone when she observed a suspicious male in a park. The male was described as wearing all black clothing and a non-medical mask. The female trusted her instinct and began walking toward a populated area, while the male reportedly followed her. Once in a safe location, the female called for help.

In the second instance, on October 17, 2022, at about 11:30 p.m., in the 39000 block of Discovery Way, a young adult female was waiting for a family member to pick her up. Upon pickup, a suspicious male was observed in the immediate area who previously was not noticed. The male was described as wearing all black, with strings on his hoody tied up to disguise his face.

Squamish RCMP warn the public when walking alone to have increased awareness on important things such as surroundings, access points, lighting, weather, and access to communications to name a few.
