2022 – 6255 - Impaired

On September 28, 2022, a BC Highway Patrol-Squamish member conducted a traffic stop on Highway 99 for a sobriety check after observing the driving pattern of a grey vehicle. Upon the roadside stop, the member noticed markers of impairment and the driver was given a roadside test which indicated fail. The member arrested the driver, and upon being searched, police located a weapon. Police impounded the vehicle, and released the driver once they were sober with paperwork for a later court date.

2022 – 6319 – Dangerous Operation, Flight from Police, Impaired

On September 30, 2022, Squamish RCMP responded to multiple calls regarding an F150 pickup truck travelling north on Highway 99 and was unable to maintain the lane and appeared to be over correcting. Squamish RCMP set up on the highway and locate the vehicle crossing over the centre line. Members were able to stop the vehicle, and upon giving the driver the breath demand, the driver sped off onto a forest service road. Members located the driver walking away from his vehicle, and arrested him for impaired operation, flight from police, and dangerous driving. The male’s breath samples were over 4 times the legal driving limit for alcohol. Police impounded the vehicle and released the driver once sober, with paperwork for a later court date.

2022 – 6361 – Dangerous Operation

On October 3, 2022, Squamish RCMP received an assist from Whistler RCMP regarding two motorcycles in Whistler suspected of driving over the speed limit and swerving in and out of vehicles. Squamish members staged along Highway 99. As the motorcycles passed the members who initiated a stop, the motorcycles did not stop immediately and the first motorcycle swerved around a member causing the member to tumble. The second rider of the motorcycle surrendered and was arrested for dangerous operation, flight from police, and impaired operation. The rider was released once sober and has a future court date. The first rider of the motorcycle was located with the assistance of West Vancouver Police.
