File # 2022-408

On September 7, 2022, an elderly man with dementia from Burnaby went missing on Bowen Island.

Police have since located the man who is in good health and back with his family.

Police thank those who assisted with the search, and in particular, wish to extend special acknowledgement to Bowen Island Deputy Fire Chief, Ian Thompson. He was on September Morn Beach searching for the man earlier today when he saw something move. He went to see what moved, and it was the missing man.

Chief Thompson is an incredible asset to the community, says Corporal Adam Koehle, non-Commissioned officer in charge of Bowen Island RCMP. His return to the area to search again had the best outcome, and we thank him.

Bowen Island RCMP asks anyone with any information regarding any file to contact the local detachment at 604-947-0516, or, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to www.solvecrime.ca
