Lillooet RCMP August 10 to August 23 2022, Calls for service: 145

Property found
On August 10 a woman turned in a cellphone found on Mountainview Rd to the Lillooet RCMP. Owner may claim with detailed description within 90 days. Please reference Lillooet RCMP file 2022-1653.

Break and enter
On August 11 at 1230hrs, a man reported his seasonal property on Hwy 12 was broken into sometime over the previous night. Stolen were two Stihl chainsaws and a metal detector. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Lillooet RCMP, please reference Lillooet RCMP file 2022-1668.

Prohibited driving
On August 11 at 1230hrs while attending an unrelated break and enter file, police were advised of a known female prohibited driver observed driving on Hwy 12. Police checked the woman’s drivers licence information and confirmed she was prohibited from driving. The woman was served an appearance notice with a future court date.

Injured dirt biker
On August 17 at 6pm Lillooet RCMP were advised of an SOS device activation in a remote area mapping several kilometres north of Tyaughton Lake. SOS device was requesting assistance for a man with a two dislocated shoulders. Search and Rescue was activated and attended the area, locating the man and extracted him down to Lillooet Pioneer Rd 40, but he refused EHS transportation. Instead, the man had a friend drive him back to a local hospital near his home in the lower mainland.

Theft
On August 18, a woman reported that someone stole her Coleman camp stove that was sitting on the picnic table at her campsite at the BC Hydro Seton Lake campground. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Lillooet RCMP, please reference Lillooet RCMP file 2022-1728.

Break and enter
On August 18, a man reported a break and enter in the 900 block of Moha Rd. The incident sometime between August 17 and August 18 where an outbuilding at the rear of the property was rummaged through. It was unclear exactly what was stolen. One neighbour stated they hear some noise in the area that aligned with a possible time of entry; however they did not investigate further and did not call police. Mental health act
On August 19 at 3am Lillooet RCMP were advised of a man contemplating jumping off the 23 Camels Bridge, and was currently on the bridge deck. Police immediately attended and located the man sitting in the middle of the bridge deck leaning against a rail guard. Police cautiously approached, the man stated he wanted help and was willing to go with police. Police apprehended the man under the mental health act, and transported him to a local hospital.

Fraud
On August 19, a woman reported she had been scammed over the phone out of $1550. The woman stated she met a man online who claimed to be a ship captain. They had been speaking online and occasionally over the phone for about one month when the man told her that he was going to ship her a gift. The woman received a phone call from a different man claiming to be with Swifton Cargo Company and requested payment for customs charges on the gift. The woman fulfilled the request for payment through two separate transactions using Money Mart and Western Union. A package was never received, and the woman ceased contact with the man she met online sensing she had been scammed.

Injured mountain biker
On August 21 at 2pm Lillooet RCMP were advised of an SOS device activation in a remote area mapping several kilometres north of Tyaughton Lake. SOS device was requesting assistance for a woman with a broken arm. Search and Rescue was activated and attended the area via helicopter. The woman was located and extracted by helicopter back to Lillooet. The woman was transported to a local hospital.

Fraud
On August 22, a woman reported she met a man named "Brian" on a "Sugar Daddy Website". Brian sent her $300 without notice and since then was continually texting her "you got to get here now," and "I will come look for you", and sent her a partial picture of his supposed "Clinton Police Commissioner ID". The woman said she had no idea who "Brian" was, despite connecting with the man on a Sugar Daddy website. He was then telling her to not wash her underwear for a week, and telling her he was a police officer. Lillooet RCMP asked her if she exchanged any personal information such as her location/address, she stated she did not. Police advised her to block the numbers and to not meet random people on Sugar Daddy Websites. The woman was advised to contact Lillooet RCMP after blocking the numbers if she had further issues.
