On Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 10:54 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District officer was conducting a routine patrol when he detained a 2008 white Subaru Impreza on Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC. The officer stopped the vehicle to determine if the driver possessed a valid BC Driver’s Licence. Additional officers attended the scene to assist him with the roadside detention.

Officers conducted an investigation into the driver, a 42-year-old Nelson man, after observing what appeared to be drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. One of his passenger, a 32-year-old Salmo woman, was allegedly on a court ordered condition to have no contact with the man.

Officers conducted a search of the vehicle incidental to the man’s arrest and seized a loaded .38 calibre revolver, 22 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, and 11 grams of suspected Fentanyl. The 42-year-old man also had outstanding Warrants of Arrest in the Province of Alberta. He was taken into police custody and lodged in the Trail Detachment cell block.

The 42-year-old Nelson man remains in police custody and will make his next appearance on August 19, 2022, in Provincial Court, in Rossland, BC.

A second passenger, a 55-year-old Nelson man, was arrested by an officer for an outstanding Warrant of Arrest. He was taken into custody without incident, then later released by a judge.

The incident remains under investigation.
