Trailer ditched due to loose hitch

On Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 12:42 pm. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to an incident where a trailer had become disconnected from a 2019 Chevrolet Colorado truck in the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Queen Street, in Rossland, BC. The 55-year-old Fort Saskatchewan man driving the truck discovered the trailer pin had come loose; however, the emergency trailer safety chains and brakes prevented any further issue. The man was able to makes repairs to the hitch at the scene.

Impaired driving

On Sunday, July 31, 2022, at 7:24 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer observed a 51-year-old Trail man in his gray 2015 Chevrolet Sonic driving erratically on Rossland Avenue, in Trail, BC. The officer detected an alleged odour of liquor emanating from man while detaining his vehicle roadside and entered into an impaired driving investigation.

A demand was read to the man, who provided a sample of breath roadside that resulted in a fail.

The 51-year-old Trail man was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition (IRP) under section 215 of the BC Motor Vehicle Act and had his vehicle impounded for up to 30 days.

Suspected impaired driving and single motor vehicle accident

On Monday, August 1, 2022, at 7:34 p.m. a frontline Trail and Greater District RCMP officer responded to a single motor vehicle accident in the 2300 block of Thompson Avenue, in Rossland, BC. A 48-year-old Rossland woman allegedly drove his blue 2010 Toyota Rav 4 SUV off the side of Thompson Avenue after colliding into a concert barrier. The vehicle came to rest on the steep slope at about 90 degree angle to the ground.

The officer conducted an investigation roadside and believed alcohol and drugs were factors in the incident.

The 48-year-old Rossland woman was transported by EHS to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital for medical treatment of non- life-threatening injuries.

Trail RCMP continues to investigate the incident.
