The cyclist sustained severe injuries and was transported to the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie and was later transported by STARS Air Ambulance to Foothills Hospital in Calgary.

The male driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested for impaired driving. It is unknown at this time the full extent of injuries to the male cyclist.

The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO-BC) will be asserting jurisdiction on this matter. No names of the parties involved will be released at this time as the RCMP continue with their investigation.
