On Saturday, June 25, 2022 at approximately 6:00 pm, New Hazelton RCMP checked a vehicle where it was reported that a man, in the driver’s seat, appeared to be passed out.

When police arrived, they found an adult man still in the vehicle with drug paraphernalia in his lap as well as scattered about in the vehicle.

Further investigation revealed the man, who was suspended from driving, was in breach of preexisting conditions. He was arrested without incident.

A search was conducted and police seized cash, weapons and 36 grams of suspected Fentanyl, 95 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, 4 grams of suspected Heroin, and 59 grams of suspected cocaine.

Weapons, cash suspected drugs

This seizure is consistent with drug trafficking and we continue to gather evidence to support potential charges under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act, said S/Sgt Darren Durnin, NCO i/c New Hazelton RCMP.

The man was released at the scene and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days. Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information on this to call the New Hazelton RCMP at (250) 842-5244.
