Suspects arrested, charges approved in cellular store robbery

On March 6th 2022 at approximately 3:00 pm, Frontline officers with the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP responded to a robbery at a cellular Store, located in the 100 block Central Road in Duncan BC. Read previous release here: Weapon produced during robbery at cell phone store

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Street Crimes Unit had assumed conduct of the investigation, and identified the two males who were believed to have worked together to commit this offence.

On April 8th 2022, with the assistance of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP General Investigation Section, search warrants were executed on two locations in the Duncan area, which resulted in the recovery of stolen property and other evidence related to this offence.

On June 23rd 2022, 50-year-old Thor Borchert of Duncan, BC and 48-year-old Kenneth Daniels of Vancouver, BC were each charged with one count of Theft Over $5,000 and Possession of Stolen Property Over $5,000.

Both men are currently in custody and will appear in BC Provincial Court in the coming days.
