File # 2022-3612

The Dawson Creek RCMP respond to an unfortunate fatal collision involving a pick up truck and motorcyclist. On June 8th 2022 at 10:38 pm Dawson Creek RCMP attended a collision on the 1100 block of Alaska Ave in Dawson Creek involving a pick up truck being struck by a motorcycle.

Unfortunately, the 19 year old motorcyclist succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured in the collision. Criminality is not suspected to be a factor at this time.

Based on witness testimony and video surveillance it appears that a motorcycle exited the 8th Street traffic circle heading West on Alaska at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle collided with a pick up truck exiting a parking lot onto Alaska Ave.

As a result of the collision both directions of travel on Alaska Ave between 11th Street and 12th Street were closed until approximately 12:30 am on June 9th 2022.

The Dawson Creek RCMP are urging motorists to remain careful while driving at night time and on roads with heavy traffic. Obeying traffic rules and regulations and using appropriate safety may save lives.

The Dawson Creek RCMP would like to thank the other first responders who attended the scene and the community members who assisted in the investigation.
