File # 2022-35856

On June 14, 2022, the Kelowna RCMP received a report of a missing woman. 31-year-old Chelsea Cardno was last seen leaving her residence on Dougall Road South in Kelowna at 8:00 a.m. yesterday. At the time she left her residence, she was going to walk her German Shepherd JJ near the Mission Greenway.

Frontline officers searched the surrounding area of Mission Greenway and located Chelsea’s white BMW parked at the north end of Pasadena Road.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR), along with assistance from RCMP Air Services and Kelowna RCMP Forensic Identification Services conducted ground, water and air searches throughout the afternoon and into the evening. COSAR concluded the search at 9:00 p.m. and will be resuming the search today.

Chelsea’s family and the police are concerned for her safety and well-being. Chelsea is 4’11 tall, 108 lbs with brown hair and blonde highlights. She was last seen wearing a blue or grey cap, bright red puffy jacket, sweatpants and black lace-up style army boots.

At the time Chelsea went missing, the water level of Mission Creek was high and fast-moving, states Cst. Mike Della-Paolera, Media Relations Officer for the Kelowna RCMP. While searching the area, COSAR rescued over-turned kayakers at the mouth of Mission Creek. Given the local state of emergency, the Kelowna RCMP are asking citizens to stay away from Mission Creek, Della-Paolera added.

The Kelowna RCMP would like to speak with anyone who may have been in the Mission Greenway and Mission Creek area yesterday and may have seen Chelsea Cardno or her dog JJ. Please call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
