Police are investigating a fatal collision in Merville

BC Highway Patrol, with the assistance of Comox Valley RCMP, are investigating a two-vehicle collision on Hwy 19A at Merville that has resulted in the death of the female driver of one vehicle and minor injuries to the driver of the other vehicle.

On May 11, 2022, just before 4:00 pm, Comox Valley RCMP and BC Highway Patrol responded to a head-on motor vehicle collision at Highway 19A and Williams Beach Road at Merville. The initial investigation has found that a 20-year-old male driver of a Kia sedan crossed over the centre line hitting an oncoming Hyundai sedan driven by a 29 year old female. The driver of the Hyundai succumbed to her injuries at the scene and the other driver received non-life threatening injuries. Hwy 19A was closed for several hours while police examined the scene of the collision and secured the vehicles for further examination.
