Impaired driver

On May 6 2022 at 2:58 am Kitimat RCMP conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle near the dump on Hwy 37 S. Police observed an open case of beer in the front passenger seat. Police initiated an impaired operation investigation roadside resulting in recommending criminal code impaired operation charges for the driver. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was released, requiring to attend Court at a later date.

Illegal parking

On May 6 at 10:33 am Kitimat RCMP received a report of a vehicle that was parked in the bus zone at City Centre. The owner of the vehicle was just coming out of the mall and moved the vehicle. Police kindly remind all drivers to park in the marked stalls and avoid blocking bus and emergency vehicle routes.

Impaired driver

On May 7 2022 at 1:50 am Kitimat RCMP officer was out on patrol when they observed a vehicle swerving right and left after executing a turn. Police effected a traffic stop, and while speaking with the driver detected a strong odor of liquor when they spoke. The office initiated a roadside investigation for impaired operation of a vehicle, resulting in the driver providing two FAIL results. The driver was subsequently advised they were prohibited from driving for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Theft of bike

On May 7 2022 at 1:47 pm, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a shed on Duncan St. The owner reported that a Norco mountain bike was taken, the bike is described as black with yellow Norco logos with a spring front end with electrical tape on it. Break and enter to business

On May 8 2002 at 2:35 am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of a commercial alarm in the 700 block of Commercial Ave. When police arrived, they observed that the front glass door was smashed and unknown suspects likely gain entry. Police have surveillance from the area, a white flatbed truck with decals on the side doors and with a red ladder propped up in the back is observed on camera. There is a figure that appears to be a 5’10’-61’ male wearing a black hoody, brown/khaki pants gain entry. Police are awaiting a list of items taken. Mischief to new construction

On May 8 2022 at 10:59 am, Kitimat RCMP received a report of damage to some steel construction supplies. The complainant advised that someone had entered the construction site between 7:00 pm May 7 and 7:00 am May 8, damaging some steel required for construction. Damage is estimated at $1000. Disturbance

On May 10 2022 at 6:48 am Kitimat RCMP received a report of a disturbance with a male and a female banging on doors at Albatross Ave. Police arrived to find a make standing in the hallway who advised that he was waiting for his girlfriend inside a unit there. Police were able to locate the property representative who appeared intoxicated as well as the male’s girlfriend and confirmed there was no issues, the male and female were just trying to rouse the property representative to answer the door.
