Fraud presentation

On April 19th, 2022 Quadra officers Cst.Clelland and Cst.Draht completed a fraud presentation for the local seniors at Heriot Bay Inn. The interactive presentation included topics such as current phishing scams, new scams related to Covid, and various social media scams. The Quadra RCMP would like to remind the public that should they encounter a scam, to call the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or go to the website at https://www.antifraudcentre-centreantifraude.ca/index-eng.htm.

Threats uttered

On April 21th, 2022 Quadra RCMP received a report threats uttered. The complainant admitted while transporting individuals to the government docks on Gorge Harbour, he caused a considerable wake. A local tenant, whose dock and boat had been tossed about by the wake, became upset with the complainant and the two exchanged words. The complainant was able to calm the situation down, and the two parted on calm terms soon after. The complainant just wanted police to be advised of the situation.

Lost Property

On April 23rd, 2022 a group of young adults approached an on duty officer with a bunch of loyalty cards they found. The youths didn’t know the person on the cards, but asked if the officer could locate the owner and return them. The officer was able to locate family members of the card owner who advised they would find the owner and give back the cards. The RCMP would like to thank the good citizens for locating and returning the cards.

Aggressive panhandler 

Quadra RCMP received multiple calls regarding the aggressive panhandler that had been frequenting Quadra from the last few weeks. The individual, due to his ongoing behaviour, was finally banned by multiple businesses in the area.The male was advised of the ban and that he would be arrestable under the Trespass Act should he return to those areas.

Speed watch volunteers

As the weather has become warmer and there are more tourists in town, the Quadra RCMP have received an increased amount of calls related to speeders. While the officers are increasing our patrols, we also rely on the Quadra speed watch program to help nab speedy drivers. This important section is currently looking for volunteers.
