File # 2022-1731
In the early morning of April 19, 2022, the Nelson RCMP was contacted for an alarm at a local financial institution located on Highway 3a in South Slocan, BC.
Nelson RCMP frontline members along with members of the Crescent Valley Fire Department arrived on scene and found the business insecure, and confirmed that it had been broken into. Damages were done to several areas throughout the business in an attempt to gain access to the automated teller (ATM).
The individual, or individuals, took their time in attempting to protect their identities by tampering with security cameras in the business, however they were not able to make off with anything of value
states Cpl Derek Pitt, Nelson RCMP Detachment Commander. By the time members arrived on scene, the suspect(s) had already fled the scene
Some evidence was located at the scene and is currently being examined by the Forensic Identification Section (FIS) in an attempt to identify the suspect(s).
Based on what we’ve encountered, these individual must have also spent some time in the immediate area preparing to enter the business, and we’re hoping that someone driving by may have seen something suspicious
Corporal Pitt added.
The Nelson RCMP is asking anyone with information on this investigation to contact them at (250) 352-2156.
