Princeton man convicted of prohibited driving

On September 6, 2021, Merritt RCMP Front Line Officers responded to a single vehicle roll over collision on Highway 5A near Corbett Lake. The driver, identified as Jessie Lawrence Williams from Princeton, was found to be prohibited from driving.

On April 19, 2022, Mr. Williams pleaded guilty to one count of Prohibited Driving and received 30 days in jail and a Provincial Driving Prohibition for 2 years.

On April 15, 2022, a Merritt RCMP Front Line Officer, Cst. Manish Dutta, was patrolling down Nicola Avenue and observed a Merritt man, Kyle McIsaac, riding a bicycle down the street. Mr. McIsaac had an outstanding unendorsed warrant for failing to attend Court on a Break and Enter charge. Cst. Dutta attempted to stop Mr. McIsaac who subsequently fled on his bike. After a lengthy chase and foot pursuit over fences, Front Line Officers arrested Mr. McIsaac, who was held in custody.   

On April 16, 2022, Mr. McIsaac was charged with one count of Obstructing a Police Officer. He is currently being held in custody and set to appear in Court virtually today.
