Collision claims life on Highway 2 near Toms Lake

On April 4, 2022 at approximately 1:25 PM local time, Police and Emergency Services responded to a fatal collision on Highway 2 near Toms Lake, BC.

Upon arrival it was determined that a southbound black Ford Escape entered the oncoming lane and collided with a northbound grader. The driver of the Ford, a man believed to be in his twenties, was killed in the collision. The passenger, believed to be a woman in her twenties, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

BC Highway Patrol Dawson Creek has conduct of the investigation with assistance from the Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service and the BC Coroners' Service. The cause of the crash is under investigation, however road and weather conditions do not appear to have been a factor.
