The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 250 calls between March 19 and March 25, 2022. Below are just a few highlights of calls for service received:

RCMP received information on March 21 of a man who was beating up a woman at an address in Terrace. Police attended and spoke with the witnesses and the victim who all report that there had only been a verbal argument. There were no indications of injuries.  No further cooperation was received with the investigation however the man was breaching his condition to not be in Terrace. Police arrested him for breaching his probation and he was held in custody for court. He was convicted of Failing to Comply with Probation Order and sentenced to a 45 day Conditional Sentence Order (CSO) which included the condition not to be in Terrace as well as a curfew to be inside his residence at night, thus allowing police to monitor compliance.
(A CSO is a jail term which is imposed on the offender who is permitted to serve the sentence in the community. Typically, if the offender does not follow conditions, they may then be required to serve the remainder of the sentence in jail.)

On March 21, a woman reported that she had been the victim of fraud over the past several months, amounting to over $100,000. The fraud occurred online through Twitter and Google Chats and the fraudster convinced the victim to send transactions by bank drafts, and deposits to Bitcoin ATMs. Police are investigating the frauds. On the evening of March 22, a man reported hearing an alarm going off and a smashed front door at a local business on the 4500 block of Lakelse Ave. Police attended and found that the business located on the second floor of the building was full of smoke. Terrace Fire attended and extinguished the fire. Police believe the fire to be suspicious and noted an extensive amount of damage within the office building in addition to the fire. RCMP Forensic Investigation Section has been engaged and the investigation is ongoing. If you have information about this crime, contact Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400.

A local car rental company reported to RCMP that one of their rental vehicles had been stolen on or after the evening of March 22. The company initially reported the theft internally, but two days later reported it to RCMP when the stolen vehicle turned up near the local 7-Eleven. Police attended and seized the vehicle for further investigation. A man and woman are believed to be associated to the stolen car, a black Hyundai Santa Fe. Anyone with information about the two suspects or theft of the car are asked to call the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400.

On the evening of March 25, RCMP conducted a traffic stop with a pick up truck in the 3600 block of Kalum Street. After speaking with the male driver, the officer formed suspicion that the he was impaired by alcohol. Two roadside breath samples were obtained from the man, both resulting in a FAIL. The pick up truck was impounded for 30 days and the man was prohibited from driving for 90 days.
