Police respond to 202 calls from April 5 through April 11, 2021

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 202 calls from Monday April 5, to midnight on Sunday April 11. Of those calls approximately 93 occurred between Friday the 9th and Sunday the 11th. Below are some highlights from calls for service received:
• Terrace RCMP assist Calgary Police Service - File 2021-2820
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Terrace RCMP received a request from Calgary Police Service to assist in the execution of a Canada wide Warrant. Calgary PS believed that the man was in Terrace staying at an area hotel. Police officers set up containment of the hotel and an arrest of the male was affected without incident on the outstanding warrant. The man was taken into custody at the Terrace Detachment to await escort to a provincial correction center.
• Arrest for Breach and Mental Health Apprehension – File 2021-2847/2849
On the afternoon of Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Terrace RCMP responded to a report of a man and woman yelling each other in a public place and that the man appeared to be sitting on the woman. Police officers attended and found that the man was seated beside the woman attempting to restrain her from hitting herself in the head. Police apprehended the woman under the Mental Health Act and transported to local area hospital. While being transported, the woman continued attempts to harm herself. Once at the hospital her health was monitored and she received medical treatment for injuries. The man was determined to be on conditions not to have contact with that woman and was arrested for breach. The male was released from police custody by way of an appearance notice. RCMP will submit to the BC Prosecution Service the results of a breach probation investigation, for consideration of appropriate charges.
• Police rescue male from harming himself – File 2021-2855
On Thursday, April 8, 2021, the Terrace RCMP received a report from a man who advised that he was planning to harm himself. Upon arrival at the residence, the same man was found by police officers hanging from the rafters by a rope. The police officers immediately began life saving efforts. EHS arrived shortly thereafter where the man was taken to local hospital to medical treatment and remains in hospital.
• Attempt Break and Enter at local business – File 2021-2861
On Thursday, April 8, 2021, RCMP responded to a report of attempt break and enter at a local business. Store owners arrived at their property at the start of the business day to find that someone attempted to gain entry to the business. Significant damage was caused to the door, however, entry was not gained. Evidence was seized by police and submitted to the Terrace Forensic Identification Section to be processed for forensic examination. This investigation is ongoing. • Fraud and Forged Documents – File 2021-2867
On Thursday, April 8, 2021, the Terrace RCMP received information from Smithers RCMP of a man who was opening bank accounts along Highway 16 in the North District. The male was using fraudulent documents as means of ID. The information provided from Smithers RCMP tipped off the Terrace RCMP that the man had booked an appointment at a local Terrace financial institution. Officers arrested the man and determined his identity. There was an arrest warrant for the man. A search warrant was obtained for a local hotel room where he had been staying. The man was remanded in police custody to await court appearance. Terrace RCMP are continuing to investigate offences.
