File # Whistler 21-1315

On March 21, 2021 at approximately 9:30 PM, Whistler RCMP received a report of a Traffic complaint in Squamish of 2 vehicles speeding Northbound on Hwy 99 and driving erratically. The first vehicle was described as a black Mercedes CLS55 with an Ontario license Plate. The second vehicle was described as Black BMW X5 with a BC Plate. Whistler Traffic services observed the black Mercedes heading north on Hwy 99 and conducted a traffic stop just south of Spring Creek Drive. During the traffic stop, RCMP learnt that 2 male occupants had a history of violent offences including fire arm offences. RCMP members conducted a pat down of the passenger for officer safety. Members located a loaded handed gun in a Guchi ‘man-purse. The man fled from police across Hwy 99, jumped over the concrete barrier, and ran down the embankment. RCMP set up a perimeter and called the K9 unit to assist in attempts in locating the man. Cpl Miller advised that Whistler RCMP were unable to locate the man who fled but can confirm that the man was not in possession of a weapon when he fled from police. The male has been identified and the investigation is still ongoing. The driver of the vehicle was arrested and held in custody for various firearms offences where he was later released on court documents. Whistler RCMP would like to thank the Whistler residences in the function junction area for their patients during the event.
Whistler RCMP are asking if anyone has any information about this to please contact the Whistler RCMP at 604 932-3044 or Crimestoppers.
