Traffic stop leads to drug seizure

On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 2, 2021, the Terrace RCMP responded to a report from the public of a possible impaired driver. Members conducted patrols and located the suspect vehicle on Keith Ave in Terrace.

A traffic stop was initiated where an officer conducted a roadside screening of the driver. Through the investigation it was believed the driver was impaired by way of drugs. During this time, the passenger of the vehicle was observed attempting to hide bags of a white substance between their legs.

The  driver received a Driving Prohibition, several violation tickets and the vehicle was impounded. The passenger of the vehicle was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (Controlled Drugs and Substances Act) and Failure to Comply with Undertaking (Criminal Code).

Search incidental to arrest resulted in Police locating gloves which contained suspected Methamphetamine and Purple Fentanyl. The matter has been forwarded to court.
