Whistler RCMP media briefs for January 4th to January 10th, 2021

1. On January 7, 2021 at approximately 10:50 AM, Whistler RCMP were notified of a theft complaint from a retail store in the 4300 block of Lorimer Road. Police learned that on January 6, 2020 at approximately 5:45 PM a male had entered the store, grabbed six black Arc’Teryx jackets, then ran out of the store. The male stole approximately $5000 worth of merchandise. The suspect was described as a Caucasian male wearing black pants, a black Arc’Teryx jacket, a black face mask and a ‘Blue Jays’ baseball cap. Whistler RCMP are actively investigating and are asking if anyone recognizes this individual to please contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044 or Crimestoppers.

2. On January 7, 2021, at 9:30 PM, Whistler RCMP observed a sliver BMW X3 leaving an underground parking lot in the 4200 block of Main Street. The member noted the license plate attached to the vehicle was not registered. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver failed to stop for police and fled at a high rate of speed. On January 8, 2020 at 9:15 AM, Whistler RCMP located the abandoned BMW X3 and learned that the vehicle was stolen out of Langley a few days prior. The vehicle was seized and is being held for IDENT services to examine.

3. On January 8, 2021 at 1:30 PM, Whistler RCMP responded to a break and enter at a commercial storage locker located at 4200 block of Mountain Square. The RCMP attended the scene and learned that staff had interrupted two males who had broken into their storage locker and were attempting to leave with merchandise. Staff were able to provide a detailed description of the two suspect males. The Whistler RCMP canvassed the area and located a vehicle departing on Whistler Way. Members stopped a vehicle in the area and noted the male passenger of the vehicle matched the suspect description provided by staff and he was subsequently detained for investigation. Shortly after, the RCMP identified the second suspect male in the area. The suspect males, both known to police, were arrested for Break and Enter and Mischief.
