Update: Police look for dash cam footage in McGill Road investigation

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is reaching out to the public for dash cam footage that may be related to a report of shots fired in Sahali this morning.

Around 7:41 a.m. on Friday Sept. 16, 2022, multiple frontline officers responded to the 700-block of McGill Road for a report involving the sound of shots fired, and a person with a firearm observed. Shortly after, police located and arrested five people believed to be involved in the incident, at various locations close to the initial report.

Investigators are asking for anyone with dash camera footage from the area to please contact police, particularly around the 700-block of McGill Street and its nearby plazas on Columbia Street and Summit Drive, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The suspects were arrested at various locations around the area. A frontline police presence remains in Sahali as officers continue to collect evidence and investigate, with support from multiple Kamloops RCMP units, including the Police Dog Service, Forensic Identification Service, General Investigation Support Team, Serious Crime, and Targeted Enforcement.

At this time, no one has been located with injuries and police believe there are no suspects or victims unaccounted for.
