Kamloops Pride Week 2022 is Aug. 22-28, and as part of the numerous events and activities planned, the Kamloops RCMP North Shore Community Policing Office is hosting an open house in its parking lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 23, 2022, at 915 7th Street. This event was planned in consultation with Kamloops Pride to determine how the RCMP could best support and build trust with the 2SLGBTQPIA+ community.

When we heard Pride Week would be back up with in-person celebrations, we wanted to be part of that and show our support for 2SLGBTQPIA+, said Corporal Dana Napier, Kamloops RCMP Community Policing Office. We worked together with Ashton O’Brien of the Kamloops Pride Society to see how we could be involved.

During the open house, people are invited to stop by, ask questions, provide feedback, participate in games and activities, win prizes, and get to know some of the local police officers.

"We are happy to see the RCMP taking steps to initiate and facilitate outreach with the 2SLGBTQPIA+ community in Kamloops, and putting in effort to build trust with the community," said Ashton. "We hope this community outreach continues and helps to build bridges between police and the 2SLGBTQPIA+ community in Kamloops."

Everyone in the community is welcome to attend. For more information on Kamloops Pride Event visit https://www.kamloopspride.com.
