File # 2022-23462

A Kamloops man remains in custody following what started as an alleged failure to stop for a police officer.

On Saturday July 9, 2022, just before 1 a.m., a Kamloops RCMP frontline officer was patrolling the East Trans Canada Highway in Valleyview when he observed a man riding a bike with no helmet or lights. The officer attempted to stop the cyclist, who allegedly refused and rode away, leading to his arrest.

An investigation that followed led to the seizure of a compressed air handgun as well as suspected break-in instruments, resulting in additional charge recommendations, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Kyle Jordan Deline, 31, of Kamloops, is charged with two counts of failure to comply with a probation order by possessing a weapon and instruments capable of use for criminal activity, and one count of obstructing a police officer.

His next court appearance is scheduled for July 25, 2022.

Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-23462.
