A call involving a potential firearm led to a large police presence on the North Shore yesterday.

On July 13, 2022, around 7:15 p.m., multiple Kamloops RCMP frontline officers responded to the 700-block of Fortune Drive, where a man was allegedly in possession of what appeared to be a handgun. A suspect description was provided, leading officers to locate and arrest a man near 8th Street.

A bb gun and suspected illegal drugs were seized as part of the ongoing investigation, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

The man was released with a court date and conditions, pending the investigation’s conclusion and subsequent charge recommendation and approval process.
