BC RCMP advise IIO BC of incident in Burns Lake

 The BC RCMP has notified the Independent Investigations Office of British Columbia (IIO BC) of an incident in Burns Lake where a woman was injured while being arrested.

On August 4, at approximately 6 p.m., Burns Lake RCMP were called to a home for a reported dispute between two people. Officers attempted to arrest one woman who reportedly became actively resistant and were required to use physical control to get her into the police vehicle.

At the Burns Lake RCMP Detachment, the woman is alleged to have once again become resistant and officers once again used physical control.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. the woman complained of an injury and Emergency Health Services transported her to hospital where it was determined that she had a broken bone in her leg

The IIO BC is investigating police actions. As the matter is now under investigation by the IIO BC, no further information will be released by police.
