Suspect in theft of bike

The Nanaimo RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person shown in the attached photo. Just before 3:30 PM on Wednesday June 2, 2022, it is alleged that this individual stole a bike that was chained outside Wellington High School, located on Mexicana Drive.

The bike was owned by a Grade 9 student who attends Wellington High School. Police reviewed video surveillance and observed the suspect walk up to the bicycle, remove a set of bolt cutters from his back pack then cut the lock. The suspect then rode off on the bike.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian man, 5 ft. 10, muscular build, 25-30 years of age with short blonde hair. He was wearing a black mask, sleeveless grey colored shirt, blue jeans and was carrying a backpack. The bike that was stolen is a black and red Supercyle mountain bike with serial # AH15E087496.
