Richmond RCMP investigating two instances of shots fired in the same neighbourhood

Richmond RCMP is investigating reports of gunfire being overheard in the 6300 residential block of Chelmsford Street. The first incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on August 27, 2023. The second occurred on the evening of August 29, 2023 at around 10:45 p.m.

A vehicle, house, and garage were discovered to have sustained gunfire.

This area is densely populated by families and community members. People walk, run, ride their bikes, and simply carry our their daily lives. Having two incidents of gunfire in the same area is a major concern and significant resources are being dedicated to locate the person or persons responsible. The incidents appear targeted and this investigation is a priority for the Richmond RCMP says Staff Sergeant Gene Hsieh, NCO i/c Richmond Major Crime Unit.

These priority investigations are being actively investigated by our General Investigation Section. There is additional police presence in the area.
