Man charged with sexual assault of a minor, police seek additional information

The Kamloops RCMP Detachment is appealing to the public for more information following the alleged sexual assault of a female youth, which has resulted in charges against a 38-year-old Kamloops man.

On Sept. 6, 2022 the BC Prosecution Service approved one count each of sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, and uttering threats against Guy Purcell.

Police are releasing a photo of Purcell in order to further the investigation and identify anyone who may have additional information in relation to this alleged sexual assault, or any other interactions that they may have had with him, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson.

Guy is described as a Caucasian man with brown hair and blue eyes. He is 6’1’ tall and weighs approximately 165 lbs, with an athletic build.

We want to encourage parents to share Purcell’s photo with their kids as we know that children are not necessarily monitoring mainstream media, and the investigation to date leads police to believe Purcell may have had unreported dealings with other youth, added Cpl. Evelyn.
